The GV80 Coupe’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GV80 Coupe has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Genesis GV80 Coupe achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Audi new Q5 Sportback has not been tested.

Both the GV80 Coupe and the new Q5 Sportback have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe weighs 874 to 984 pounds more than the Audi new Q5 Sportback. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The new Q5 Sportback has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2025.

The GV80 Coupe comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The new Q5 Sportback’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV80 Coupe 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Audi covers the new Q5 Sportback. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the new Q5 Sportback ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV80 Coupe for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the new Q5 Sportback.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the GV80 Coupe has a standard 180-amp alternator (227-amp - GV80 Coupe e-Supercharged). The new Q5 Sportback’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 86 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The GV80 3.5T Coupe’s standard 3.5 turbo V6 produces 107 more horsepower (375 vs. 268) and 96 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 295) than the new Q5 Sportback’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger’s standard 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 hybrid produces 141 more horsepower (409 vs. 268) and 110 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 295) than the new Q5 Sportback’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

The GV80 Coupe has 3.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the new Q5 Sportback (21.1 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Genesis GV80 Coupe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the new Q5 Sportback.

For better traction, the GV80 Coupe has larger tires than the new Q5 Sportback (265/50R20 vs. 235/55R19). The GV80 Coupe’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the new Q5 Sportback (265/50R20 vs. 255/45R20).

The GV80 Coupe’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the new Q5 Sportback’s standard 55 series tires. The GV80 Coupe 3.5 e-Supercharger’s tires have a lower 40 series profile than the new Q5 Sportback’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV80 Coupe has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the new Q5 Sportback. The GV80 Coupe 3.5 e-Supercharger’s 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the new Q5 Sportback.

The GV80 Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV80 Coupe’s wheelbase is 5.4 inches longer than on the new Q5 Sportback (116.3 inches vs. 110.9 inches).

The design of the Genesis GV80 Coupe amounts to more than styling. The GV80 Coupe has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is lower than the new Q5 Sportback (.35) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the GV80 Coupe get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the GV80 Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GV80 Coupe uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The new Q5 Sportback doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The GV80 Coupe has 2.2 inches more front headroom, .7 inches more front legroom, 2.9 inches more front shoulder room, .7 inches more rear legroom and 1.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the new Q5 Sportback.

Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The new Q5 Sportback’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
